how DarlingVail handles your information

using the finder

You can use the DarlingVail finder without creating an account. When you upload an inspiration image and select the item you want, that image and your cropped selection are sent to our image analysis and product search providers so we can identify the item and look for matching products. We do not intentionally keep a permanent copy of your normal finder screenshots once the request has been processed.

anonymous finder analytics

To understand how well the finder is working, we may store anonymous analytics about a completed search, including:

• a temporary anonymous session UUID
• the target hint you typed, if any
• the AI-identified product name, description and confidence
• the products displayed to you
• ranking and match information for those products
• which products you clicked on
• your explicit "yes / close / no" match feedback, if given
• timestamps for these events

The anonymous session ID is stored in your browser's sessionStorage for the current visit only. It is not a permanent identifier and is not used for device fingerprinting.

concierge requests

If you choose to submit a "let us find it for you" concierge request, we store the information you voluntarily provide: your email address, an optional budget, an optional note, the cropped target image you selected, and the search information associated with that request.

Concierge reference images are stored in private storage, not as public image URLs that anyone with a link could view. We do not intentionally save your full original screenshot as part of a concierge request, only the cropped item image.

third-party services we rely on

DarlingVail uses third-party infrastructure and services that are necessary to operate the product, including categories such as:

• hosting
• database and private file storage
• AI processing, to identify items in images
• product search, to find matching products
• rate limiting, to keep the service reliable
• affiliate and referral networks, where applicable

how long we keep information

We do not have fixed retention periods to publish yet. Data described on this page is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, subject to operational and legal requirements.
